This Indenture made this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord 1822
Between Walter Williams and Morning his wife and Peter P. Thornton of the one part
and Richard S Ellis of the other part Witnesseth that the said Williams and Thornton
for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars current money of Virginia
to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath by these presents
agreed covenantted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and do by these presents agree
covenant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Richard S Ellis his heirs and
assigns forever a certain tract of land lying and being in the County of Amherst
on the head waters of Maple creek containing by late survey fifty four and one half acres
more or less and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at pointers on a pine and running
on along marked line fifty seven poles to pointers adjoining Anderson Ware thence
South forty seven degrees west five poles to pointers thence South seventy degrees east sixty
poles to Rocks and pointers adjoining to Allison Morriis thence North fifty four poles east
one hundred and seventy two poles to pointers on a Branch thence up the branch one hundred
and four poles to pointers thence south seventy seve degrees west fifty poles to the Beginning
it being the same land sold by William Noel to Walter Williams and sold by Walter Williams
to Peter P Thornton and by Peter P Thornton sold to Richard S Ellis to have and to
hold the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances and all and singular
the premises thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the said Williams
and Thornton doth covenant and agree with the said Richard S Ellis that the above sold
land will forever warrant and defend unto the said Richard S Ellis and his heirs and
assigns forever in fee simple free from all incumbrances or the title or claim of any
person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Williams and Thornton have
hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date above written.

Amherst County court clerks office February the 17th 1823 This Deed was acknowledged
in said clerks office by Peter P Thornton the date aforesaid and admitted to record as to
him and proven by these subscribing witnesses thereto as to Walter Williams and ordered to
be for further proof [??] to him recorded
