Mitchell and White GenealogyThere are numerous Archelaus Mitchells found in the records of Amherst County, Virginia and in adjoining counties. Based on my research these individuals represent several different and likely unconnected family lines.

My Archelaus Line
This line is my Mitchell line (the primary subject of this website) This Archelaus Mitchell came from Louisa County, Virginia and settled in Amherst County in the 1790s after serving in the Revolutionary War.

Archelaus Line 3
Archelaus Patterson Mitchell is likely connected to one of the other two Mitchell lines in Amherst but I have not yet found any evidence. He is possibly the same Archelaus that appears in Henry County, Kentucky in the 1830s but this cannot be absolutely confirmed because I have found multiple Archelaus Patterson Mitchells in the records and have not been able to seperate them.
